My very first doll as a young child was a 14" size mid-1950's Betsy Wetsy. In an effort to 'recapture' my own childhood memories I wanted my memories back when my children left the 'nest'. I've come a long way...
 
Here is a perfect example of the same doll in the LARGEST size made by Ideal for Betsy Wetsy. She comes dressed in her ORIGINAL outfit -- red-and-white gingham pants and whimsical 'dolly' print blouse. She wears appropriate shoes... just like the ones that are stamped 'Ideal' on the soles, but these are made by Fairyland. Original white cotton knit panties underneath
 
This Betsy is the RAREST and HARDEST to FIND of the 1950's "Betsy Family" dolls. Issued in the early half of the 1950s, like her contemporaries, she has a 5-part vinyl body jointed at the arms and legs. Commonly this 20" size Betsy can be found with a vinyl head and saran hair -- this Little Lady has a HARD PLASTIC Head with brown molded curls (and, it seems of the 4 or so I have seen in 25 years of collecting and researching Betsy, the hair has quite a few soft and gentle rubs to show her age). Her vinyl body has no nips or flaws other than what I perceive as a faint redness to her inner left arm that appears to be a transfer of fabric dye most likely -- perhaps she wore a red jacket or sweater at some time to cause this effect... but it is minimal and not distracting.
 
Her lovely face has beautiful coloring, especially against her GREEN metal glassene eyes... having been made of metal instead of the plastic used in the smaller-sized Betsy dolls, her eyes open and close as they should with no distortion and do not recede. All full and even brush lashes are present. As appropriate, she is marked correctly on the nape of her neck: Ideal Doll / W-4; and Ideal Doll / 20 on her back. Give her a healthy squeeze and she squeaks loudly in protest.
 
Baby's clothing layette is factory original and in excellent lightly played with condition with no tears, mends or holes, etc.
 
Includes her little 'Skippy' Duck, too.
