Extremely rare patent pending JAPAN earliest 1950s Sleepy Baby Doll with CHINA HEAD.
Measures 7.5" -- 8" high.
This EXTREMELY RARE and highly desired and sweet little Sleepy Baby doll was part of a huge collection of Shackman Sleepy series dolls I purchased. The collector/owner documented over 50 of these dolls.
This baby is marked on her back with two stickers: "COPYRIGHT / SHACKMAN / MADE IN JAPAN" with no date of issue; and "JAPANESE PAT PENDING 13955 / (DESIGN PATENT). She is of the EARLIEST issue having a CHINA head instead of the later issue stuffed stockinette head.
