Charming Vintage Gong Bell Horse Pull Toy – East Hampton CT “Belltown” Bell Wheel Toy c.1940s
Fine, crisp and bright graphics... RARE to find in such excellent condition
A delightful mid-century horse pull toy made by Gong Bell Manufacturing Company of East Hampton, Connecticut — the historic American “Belltown.”
This charming toy features a brightly lithographed spotted horse with a cheerful child rider, mounted to a frame with a large red bell wheel embossed with stars. As the toy is pulled along, the wheel contains a bell that jingles — a playful feature that made Gong Bell toys especially popular with children.
The illustration style and colorful lithography beautifully capture the spirit of American toys from the 1940s–1950s.
The original gold foil hub label is still present on the wheel and partially reads “…Bell Mfg… East Hampton, Conn.” — identifying the maker as Gong Bell Manufacturing Co., a well-known toy and bell maker from Connecticut’s famous bell-making region.
