Vintage 22" Effanbee 1940's Baby BRIGHT EYES - All Original
AWESOME!! 1940s Effanbee BRIGHT EYES 22" Baby Doll -- All original -- gorgeous and RARE dressed in her adorable ORIGINAL outfit -- no repairs or restorations of any kind. CHARM and PERSONALITY are her best features! FLIRTY EYES -- move left to right, and back again!
Effanbee Baby Bright Eyes (sometimes marketed as Sweetie Pie, but definitely has her own look) is the most CHARMING baby ever in a perfect size that is just right for hugging and loving! She has BIG BROWN eyes that open and close for awake/sleeping, as well as FLIRT side-to-side -- the ultimate for expression. Baby Bright Eyes has a HIGH COLOR composition face and hands with little to NO crazing or wear at all but for the tips of the fingers on her right hand-- near MINT CONDITION. Notice her multi-stroke brows are ALL intact... very hard to find as the artists who applied Bright Eyes brows made them look more like 'real' human baby brows than most of their other dolls... light, multi-stroke wisps that are hard to find intact after so many decades.
Her peach colored fabric body is softly stuffed and immaculately clean, and her composition limbs show only the lightest of wear -- nearly perfect with only a few lines of extremely faint crazing that the camera did not pick up -- all together making a nice lightweight composition doll that is unbelievably SOFT and SQUEEZABLE... no doubt any young girl would have loved receiving this baby on Christmas morning, or for a special birthday perhaps. I'm sure she would make a most comforting companion.
Notice her pink celluloid fingernails added from the factory. During the 1940s Effanbee applied the nails on some of their dolls and they are VERY RARE to find.
Her composition is gorgeous -- body is perfect; her lovely head is marked Effanbee Made in USA. All in all an exceptional example of Bright Eyes.
His original clothing is a darling 4-piece outfit -- consisting of a bright blue cotton slip/underdress; matching bloomers; and a classic Effanbee dotted swiss 'smock' dress -- complete with two pockets with embroidered and appliqued flowers 'growing' out of them as 'pots', but one of the felt flowers is now missing. Matching wide-brimmed bonnet. Her original shoes and socks included, but do show wear. .. all in the "Little Mary, Quite Contrary" style that was popular in the early 1940's -- really a very charming effect.
WONDERFUL Effanbee Bright Eyes... ALL ORIGINAL doll -- with NO repairs, NO restorations. She has to be SEEN to be appreciated. A TRUE GEM for any collector of Effanbee or composition dolls... NOT to be missed!
