Near Mint without box -- Vintage 1969 Vogue Baby Dear doll with beautiful dark 'skin' --
 
EXTREMELY RARE VOGUE BABY DEAR DOLL~
 
First issued in 1969, this African American is the 12" version of the 'newly redesigned' issue that was initially produced in 1965.... as photographed, she looks quite pleased with herself!
 
History note~ the FIRST redesigned Vogue Baby Dear doll was made in 1964, but had a completely different mold head and was only produced one year before being redesigned once again the following year to the same 'classic' face/mold you see here.
 
Baby Dear is in near MINT condition and redressed in this adorable blue cotton dress with matching bonnet, and a pair of sweet little bloomers edged in eyelet lace tram. She still has her original socks.r
 
Her markings say Vogue Doll 1964 on her neck and E.Wilkins on her leg.
 
She appeared never to have been played with. Her same vintage dress has the classic 'star dot' snap, but the top part of the snap was missing; I improvised by handsewing a snap that fit nicely; there is some related wear to the spot where this was sewn and reinforced on the inside... pretty nicely done if I do say so myself, but worth mentioning, of course.
 
Her body is beautiful with even cool brown vinyl. Some of my photos show it as a warmer brown shade, but the cool ones are most accurate. The vinyl is soft like her earlier predecesors (some where later made of hard molded vinyl). Her eyes open and close and have all of their soft brush lashes.
 
I will add a reproduction copy of her original Hang Tag (not pictured), as well as her little polka-dot bear.
 
She is the PERFECT ADDITION to your 1960s doll nursery and would love to join any Baby Dear doll collection.
