This is one of several sizes made of this most highly sought after baby doll -- this is the FAMOUS Ideal baby doll who Natalie Wood cuddled in the movie -- The Miracle on 34th Street All of us grew up watching this film and came away with "I Believe" no matter what age we were at the time. A warm reminder that our pure, childhood thoughts and dreams are worthwhile.
Baby herself is ALL ORIGINAL with NO RESTORATION... so VERY RARE to find in this condition -- an original factory beauty. Very few signs of her 80 years to mention; there is a 'star' crack in the composition on the left side of her head up from her ear; and, two small ones on her limbs. Lovely BROWN eyes open and close perfectly. Her body is strong and intact and exceptionally clean.
This is a GORGEOUS Baby! These dolls were made by Ideal Toy Co and marketed under the name "Baby Beautiful". They came in a wide range of sizes as well as with blue eyes, or brown eyes; as they were marketed by some large retailers like Montgomery Ward and Sears, some of the dolls were marked Ideal and some were not, as this one is not. Their bodies came in two versions... .this is my favored issue with big chubby arms and legs highlighting her baby features.
Baby Beautiful is GORGEOUS in her equally gorgeous ORIGINAL white cotton dotted Swiss organdy dress, newly made slip, original bloomers; and her original pink taffeta coat and matching bonnet. She wears a wonderful pair of baby pink soft shoes with vintage rayon socks. The original white dress has quite a few pinholes that are 'largely hidden in the folds of the gathered skirt, and I have replaced the sleeve elastic to be nice and springy. Although she looks lovely in her original clothes I ADDED a new, old-store-stock (from the same era) crisp, white organdy pinafore to wear over the dress for parties; it has pretty pink embroidered flowers sprinkled across the voluminous skirt, and closes at the back with the tiniest buttons and a organdy bow. The original coat and bonnet each retain their crisp tag inside denoting size "24".

These dolls are very hard to find in this condition in any size...
