Vintage 1940s Sunsuit Set made expressley for the Effanbee Dy-Dee Lou baby doll.
Pink Seersucker sunsuit/bathing suit * Sun Bonnet * Romper
One of a few lovingly made sunsuit sets for some lucky little girl's baby doll. This set, along with 2 others, was part of a trunk layette I acquired many years ago. Each was designed and superbly tailored to fit the 20" Dy-Dee baby doll. Handmade layette items that are the true treasures of the Dy-Dee layettes, where no two are alike and because handwork was the pride of our ancestors they were generally exquisite creations all on their own. A trunk filled with factory and homemade layette items made each little girl's doll wardrobe unique and exciting.
This darling set is a bathing suit/sunsuit and a matching romper and sun bonnet in crisp red-and-white striped seersucker. The sunsuit and romper have red and cream two-tone bakelite button closures. The romper closes at the crotch and back with tiny silver handsewn snaps, and is belted at the waist. The generous sun bonnet self-ties with a generous bow. I have added a nice pair of 'Dolly-Sox' to match.
You will marvel at the sewing expertise and appreciate how nice this set truly is when modeled on your own sweet baby doll.
