This is an unusual vintage 1939 Dewees Cochrane all composition doll that came to me years ago now -- be sure to read my last paragraph regarding the history of this doll.
This amazing doll has a beautiful dark complexion with absolutely NO CRAZING, no cracks, really just about perfect; there are a few light marks on her waist and back of her legs from a doll stand, that may remove with cleaning. She has the most BEAUTIFUL LONG dark HUMAN HAIR WIG. She stands approximately 14" tall and her stringing is firm allowing her to pose nicely. Her gorgeous face paint is all intact, and the expression of her eyes reflect the detailed and soulful being she represents.
I think, what really sets this entire set apart from anything I have seen, is the apparent historical interest and love this doll's owner devoted to her. She comes with a huge, and I mean huge, wardrobe -- you can spend all day long dressing her in her varied outfits -- representing different cultures and historical timelines -- Spanish, Victorian, Hawaiian, to name a few.. I would say most of these outfits are handmade/hand sewn by a marvelous and most thoughtful seamstress, as well as some original Dewees Cochrane items. The attention to detail is to be appreciated for the time and talent it took to design them and fit them to this wonderful doll... and they all fit perfectly. There are only a few age-related imperfections to the outfits, but not really anything noticeable.
MANY MORE OUTFITS ARE INCLUDED, BUT NOT PICTURED, WITH THIS DOLL. My listing here only allows 15 photos to show you and illustrate the diversity and number of outfits she comes with -- all packed carefully in the 1940s round travel suitcase that is included. All of the outfits can be viewed in my eBay store listing where I am able to show 24 photos. You are better served to purchase here because you will pay no tax and shipping is always free. All the outfits shown there are included with your purchase here.
As you can see, dressed in these wonderful outfits she can represent several historical cultures with her lovely dark 'skin'. I spent the better part of a day pressing these outfits to look their best, and then spent the rest of the day 'playing dress-up' with her. I hope you have as much fun as I did when you bring her home. I wonder, how will you display her??
To be totally accurate, this is the 1939 RARE doll designed by Dewees Cochrane for Effanbee honoring the 1492 Primitive Native American Indian. This doll is technically intended as a 'He". He originally comes from the historical collection that consisted of 30 different dolls in 1939 depicting "The Fashion History of America". He comes with his original all leather costume -- see last photo -- that I am including with your purchase. The outfit came to me as you see it, in pieces that are all there, and you can outfit him by attaching the pieces as you see them in the included photo (it is an archived photo I found online, and there was no front view shown).
Includes the Effanbee golden heart metal bracelet.
