RARE BRUNETTE doll -- 14" E.I. Horsman & Co. Baby Buttercup from the early 1930's, and produced for only ONE year. She is highlighted in Ursula Mertz's book of "Collectors Encyclopedia of American Composition Dolls".

Baby Buttercup has BEAUTIFUL ALL ORIGINAL coloring, with sweet blushed cheeks. She was purchased 'as found' in her original complete outfit -- all clothing in mint condition.
Buttercup is in absolute MINT ALL ORIGINAL condition --NO Restorations of any kind.
RARE BRUNETTE BABY~
This is the next size up of the smallest of the Buttercup dolls produced and is about 14" tall (sitting 12" with her cute drawn up "baby" legs). She has a composition flange head, full arms and bent baby legs on a cloth body with a non-working crier inside. She is immaculately clean -- other than her 'provenance' with original little girl owner's name and the date of 1936 on her back -- without any odors; her cloth body has virtually NO WEAR or age discoloration. She is jointed at the shoulders and hips. ALL ORIGINAL doll with NO paint RESTORATION, Buttercup has PERFECT molded painted BROWN hair, and an open closed mouth. Her body has original paint. ABSOLUTELY NO CRAZING ANYWHERE on this BEAUITIFUL BABY -- with smooth, even toned composition. Her chubby knees still retain their original healthy glow of blush.
She is is marked appropriately on the nape of her neck HOC. Her ORIGINAL tin litho eyes are perfect, opening and closing as they should -- this is the EARLIEST Buttercup version with NO hair eyelashes. All painted features are clearly defined and intact with rosy blush to compliment her creamy 'porcelain-like' complexion.
Baby Buttercup is dressed ALL ORIGINAL: Horsman FACTORY pink cotton organdy GOWN with matching BONNET, full SLIP, and cloth DIAPER. She still has her oilcloth moccasins in minty condition. Her 'baby sweet' dress is made of pink cotton organdy with French val lace trim. Her bonnet retains it's original pink silk ribbons with no wear and have delicate picot trim. Amazing little baby -- she is almost 90 years old now. The entire outfit is complete and original.
The historical value and short production run lend this little cutie all the desirable characteristics of a highly collectible doll. Truly a RARE find for any collector of Horsman or composition dolls.
