1930s Dy-Dee Lou by Effanbee in her trunk with huge layette.

Rare early wardrobe and highly sought after accessories.

Includes her ORIGINAL GOLDEN PAPER Effanbee DY-DEE LOU hang tag... SUPER SUPER RARE!!

This is a beautiful early issue Dy-Dee Lou in her trunk filled 'to the brim' with her layette. ALL ITEMS are original Effanbee Dy-Dee layette accessories and clothing, with the exception of the celluloid toy. The 'sample' dress pattern was issued for exclusively for the Dy-Dee doll for the dress pictured, and a regular sized identical pattern was issued at the same time with additional patterns included as well.

Baby has a lovely head with a few soft rubs to her hair. Her face coloring is vibrant. She has gorgeous green eyes -- these are her ORIGINAL eyes -- with all of her brush lashes present -- full, thick and even. She has a hairline scratch in the paint (only) above her right eye, which 'in hand' is barely perceived and has been sealed.

Her body is lovely with some natural age patina, but only a few scant light craze lines. The limbs pose well and are not quite as firm as when she was 'born.' Her big toe and one next to it on her left foot has some roughness as often appears on these dolls.

She is wearing a VERY EARLY (the earliest) FAO SCHWARZ dress, coat and bonnet set. There is a green silk pleated dress with white silk Peter Pan collar and cuffs -- SO RARE to find any silk dresses from the 1930s in MINT CONDITION as this one is... no perceived wear, no fading, and no weakness to the fabric. The white silk coat and matching bonnet are in excellent condition with no apparent wear, no stains, and no weakness to the fine silk. THIS IS MY NICEST DY-DEE LOU set I have ever had as it is so fine in detail and tailoring and was produced as a special ensemble for FAO Schwarz, probably in a special holiday packaged layette.

Her trunk is surely much worn and has been loved. Not pictured here, but the former owner applied a band of cotton crochet lace to the bottom of the sides to 'make it her own'. Still, it is sturdy and closes properly and has lovely, vibrant and clear graphics on the inside of the lid... just what you want for a nice display. Its drawer handles have pulled out from the heavy cardboard front, but will be included; they can be refastened with some small effort.

Inside the trunk is a full-sized Esmond Dy-Dee Lou 'eiderdown' blanket with the desired "early to bed, early to rise" pattern in pink-and-white, reversing to white-with-pink. Excellent soft smooth condition.

Super Super RARE pink pinning blanket in PRISTINE condition is included as part of her original layette as well.

Inside are many familiar and documented accessories for Dy-Dee, including her RARE ACCESSORY CARD with the EARLIEST ISSUE NURSING BOTTLE, a somewhat tarnished first issue silver-plated official Dy-Dee spoon (marked on the inside of the handle), the earliest wooden bubble pipe with a soft rubber tip, white crochet bib, and the feeding straw with pliable rubber tip. I have added a package of original Dy-Dee cotton swabs as well.

Other original accessories include pink round wipes, brochure, Dy-Dee Doll book, Dy-Dee's diary, cannister of baby powder, hot water bottle, celluloid rattle, box of sterile cotton, small cake of soap, and RARE washcloth and towel set.

Her clothing layette includes: white flannel nightgown, pink and white kimono bathrobe, one birdseye weave diaper and matching 'belly band', one mercerized cotton knit undershirt, VERY RARE pink and white eiderdown SNOWSUIT with a pair of pink knit booties and pink knit mittens, pink organdy long gown (with replaced Effanbee embroidered bonnet), pink cotton linen sunsuit made from an official Effanbee pattern, white cotton sunsuit with eyelet trim, blue and white 'eiderdown' kimono jacket (ribbons have much wear... will replace if buyer requests), an additional pink eiderdown kimono jacket/robe in mint condition, salmon pink shrug-type sweater (some separations to knit, but still very nice), and classic 'early to bed, early to rise' drop seat pajamas. She has her ORIGINAL OILCLOTH shoes in beautil condition. Whew! I think that is all :-)

This is a wonderful set with just enough of the lovingly played with effect in contrast to the items that are in near mint condition and rare.
