Vintage 1930s Effanbee 20" Mold 1 Dy-Dee LOU Baby Doll~
The wonderful 20" Dy-Dee LOU is one of the most highly sought-after babies in the Effanbee Dy-Dee family, and the early Mold 1 Lou has become increasingly difficult to find. Here is a lovely opportunity to welcome one into your own Dy-Dee nursery.
This sweet baby comes with a charming vintage layette chosen especially for her:

She has certainly been loved over her many decades, and her sweet face still has all the charm that has attracted generations of "little mommies" to these wonderful Dy-Dee babies.
Before sending her on to her next home, I gave her a little gentle attention. I carefully covered some of the rubs on the back of her head. Most of her original painted lashes are now missing, I have added brows, and her eyes have been replaced with a beautiful bright blue pair restored by noted doll restorer Mark Hartley several years ago.
Most importantly, she has her Effanbee rubber body, which is completely intact. As one would expect after nearly 90 years, her joints are no longer as tight as they once were, but she can still pose nicely for display. The rubber in her legs has hardened somewhat with age, and there is some very light surface crazing.
Her pretty vintage layette seems to suit her perfectly—the pink floral-print romper with smocked detailing, lace trim and coordinating wide-brim bonnet compliment her complexion beautifully and make her especially appealing on display.
She may no longer be the untouched baby who first left Effanbee so many decades ago, but she has survived remarkably well and still possesses that unmistakable Dy-Dee Lou appeal. For the collector who has been waiting for an early 20" Mold 1 Lou, she would make a very special addition to an Effanbee nursery.
