There are not enough pictures here to truly satisfy your LOVE for this RARE doll -- she certainly has the 'IT' factor!

17" E.I. Horsman & Co. Baby Buttercup from the early 1930's, and produced for only ONE year. She is highlighted in Ursula Mertz's book of "Collectors Encyclopedia of American Composition Dolls".

Baby Buttercup has BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL coloring, with sweet high color blushed cheeks.  She wears a beautiful baby pink organdy dress with matching bonnet, original slip, diaper, oilcloth shoes, and socks. Dress by Molly'es. Dress in nice condition, but there are a few mends at the back, and another mend to one side of the bonnet.

Buttercup is in near MINT condition. NO CRAZING and no missing paint... except, although undisclosed to me at the time, she came with replaced arms that are ball jointed, and not the expected disc flange type; they have no crazing, but obvious paint loss at the socket where it was inserted in its original donor doll; they are perfect and proportionately sized to our Buttercup here, and she is very grateful to have such lovely functioning arms :-)

SO, if you are looking for a perfectly gorgeous BUTTERCUP, her arms don't show and it will be her little secret between us girls.

SHE is a larger-size of the Buttercup dolls produced and is about 17" tall (sitting 13" with her cute drawn up "baby" legs). She has a composition flange head, full arms and bent baby legs on a cloth body with a semi-working crier inside... she is immaculately clean without any odors. She is jointed at the shoulders and hips. Her body has original paint -- with smooth, even toned composition.Buttercup has PERFECT molded painted blonde hair, and an open mouth with two little upper teeth and a felt tongue.

Buttercup is appropriately marked EIH Co for E.I. Horsman dolls. Her ORIGINAL eyes are perfect, opening and closing as they should. All painted features are clearly defined and intact with just 'fever' blush to compliment her creamy 'porcelain-like' complexion.

The historical value and short production run lend this little cutie all the desirable characteristics of a highly collectible doll. Truly a RARE find for any collector of Horsman or composition dolls.
