blond molded curls. Extremely rare doll.

QUOTE from page 34 "Patsy Doll Family Encyclopedia" Vol II; Patricia N Schoonmaker referencing this EXTREMELY RARE doll where only a short handful of others has been documented to date. Issued in the 1940's, this is a 15" Toddler doll with larger Patsy Babykin head on a separate shoulder piece and cloth body. She has composition arms and lower legs. The all original doll is marked EFF AN BEE on the back of the neck. I had dreamed of this little doll for over 2 decades before adding one other to my private collection sometime ago now; having sold that one a few years ago, I have found a few others over the years that are worthy of a special Effanbee Patsy doll collection.
She is... RARE and ADORABLE with all the charm and personality Effanbee dolls are loved for all these years now. This is the RAREST EFFANBEE PATSY FAMILY doll -- so rare, she is highlighted in Patricia Schoonmakers' above-referenced book on Patsy dolls with a full TWO-PAGE SPREAD showing photographs and explaining her rarity, original outfit, and markings. Although my doll its not the one photographed in the book, she is identical excepting the lovely rare blond molded curls.
Patsy BABYKin toddler is 15" tall -- quite a stretch from her 'Little Sister' that is just a diminutive 10" tall. (see my photo of page 28 from Patricia's book along with my first toddler doll I had). She is appropriately marked simply EFFanBEE on the nape of her neck (see ref. photos) Baby is excellent condition . Baby comes with only ONE tiny craze line to her shoulder plate -- everywhere else is craze free; lovely original paint with with no restoration. Her painted lashes and brows have faded away over the years,however. All fingers and toes intact with only minor wear. Her facial coloring is GORGEOUS with alabaster complexion.Her blond curls have rub marks at the back -- if BUYER wishes, I will touch them up. Her big toe has a chip in the composition... again, I will repair it and seal it if buyer wishes. BabyKin's eyes have ALL LASHES -- thick, even and full. Her brown glassene eyes are clear and bright.
RARE to find at all, and in such nice condition with her original dress and bonnet; she has a pink silk onesie, and white cotton slip which are both replaced. I have given her a lovely pair of pink silk booties. Bonnet has the original SILK ties that show little signs of age or distress... AMAZING. Her dress has wear where the organdy fabric needs to be handled gently -- I did replace the elastic in the puffed sleeves; there is thinning to the fabric in the skirt front and one separation (easily hidden in the folds), and another separation in one of the puffed sleeves. All three of the tiny buttons on the flounce collar are present. The bonnet is in excellent condition.
Her firmly stuffed cloth bodyis free of marks and no odors; she has a non-working crier. Her joints are firm and she can raise and lower her arms to any position. Her head tilts, rotates and moves up and down to pose baby in an 'infinite' variety of positions to really make her personality shine!
This Patsy BabyKin Toddler is not perfect... but truly displays beautifully.
