Rare 1930 Effanbee LAMKINS Lambkins 16" Composition Doll in her VERY RARE OVAL PRESENTATION BOX

Near MINT in her ORIGINAL RARE oval presentation box.
It's a pleasure to list this MARVELOUS WONDER DOLL by Effanbee. This is the 16" LAMBKIN / LAMKIN from 1930 -- darling baby doll is in near MINT condition with only a few very light, scant surface craze lines on her arms to show any age -- one of the nicest I have ever seen.
She comes to you redressed in a gorgeous light pink organdy long gown with embroidered flowers, smocking and puff sleeves tagged by MOLLY'ES. Underneath is a lovely white batitste full slip; ORIGINAL white flannel undershirt and matching triangle diaper; and blue knit booties.... which she will probably kick off her fat little feet when she gets excited seeing you for the first time when she comes home. I added an exquisite white cotton bonnet AND bed jacket made of silky fabric with smocking and great attention to detail... both appear professionally made, as so many of the garments made by mothers, grandmas, and aunties were happy to sew for a little girl's dolly; lovely peach pink complements Baby's coloring.
LAMBKINS is appropriately marked on the back of her neck, as spelled with a 'b', where her presentation box interestingly spelled her name without the 'b' as LAMKIN and without the 's' as well.
She has 5-part composition limbs and head with a softly stuffed body that drapes and shapes to an infant's needs to fully express herself! She has a SOFT, very CUDDLY body that is clean and inside is her WORKING CRIER... just hug her gently from the back and you will hear the sweetest cry!!
FACT ALERT: DID YOU KNOW... many collector's are unaware of her unusual feature -- a unique mechanism allows the doll mother to place Lambkin on her right side with HER EYES OPEN !! Lambkins can be placed in various natural positions.
Her tin litho eyes are bright and CLEAR -- these are BEAUTIFUL! Her painted lashes and eyebrows have survived all these years and are so hard to find intact. She is PERFECT, with high color and all painted features intact. Her only sign of age are a couple of very light rubs to the back of her pretty bald head :-)
Her gorgeous plump hands, feet and legs are simply adorable. NOTE she does have the celluloid finger nails -- this a feature Effanbee used on very special dolls in its line, NOTE TOO, her darling "gold' ring on her left hand. Absolutely amazing doll to find after more than 90 years!
Baby LAMBKINS sits beautifully and poses well in her INCLUDED pink silk blanket with a darling appliqued and embroidered KITTY CAT motif. I fashioned the blanket out of the silk covering that was included in the bottom of Lamkin's box, along with a white flannel fabric piece that I sewed as a backing to make the coverlet; light fading to the fabric around the kitty and light stain to one edge, but otherwise clean and gorgeous.
Her ORIGINAL oval presentation box has surely seen better days, but the bottom is intact and the top has a good bit of its sides missing now. Still makes an AWESOME DISPLAY. Inside is the ORIGINAL pillow for baby to gently lay her head, which I laundered after removing the old kapok stuffing and replaced the worn blue silk ribbons with vintage ones in new condition... but the important part, in my view, are the graphics on the inside of the lid -- message to the original owner, Louise, from her Mama and Papa dated DECEMBER 25, 1931. The generous ribbon ties keep baby safe while peacefully sleeping as you await her arrival -- charming you with her adorable face and chubby baby hands... she could not be sweeter!
Her arm connectors work smoothly so you can raise and lower her arms in different positions; her head turns completely as well -- all adding nicely to her ability to pose and highlight her adorable features -- this baby has a LOT of CHARM and PERSONALITY and as the Effanbee slogan promises -- she is a doll to STEAL YOUR HEART.
