So seldom found in this smaller 14-inch size, this beautiful 1961 Madame Alexander KITTEN baby doll has seemingly enjoyed little to no playtime in her 65 years!
And what an extraordinary original wardrobe accompanies her!
Kitten is in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION, with a flawless, delicately colored complexion, beautiful clear BLUE sleep eyes that open and close perfectly, and her original soft blonde pixie-cut hair.
Her sweet little face is simply irresistible, with chubby rosy cheeks, tiny parted lips, and that wonderfully expressive baby look for which these early Alexander dolls are so loved.
AND SHE STILL CRIES! Her Mama cryer works nicely!
AN EXTRAORDINARILY RARE ORIGINAL WARDROBE
This little darling comes with a remarkable collection of original Madame Alexander clothing:
RARE original pale blue cotton TAGGED dress, beautifully fashioned with delicate lace and embroidered pink rosebuds.
Original white slip, trimmed with fine lace.
RARE original floral layette robe, in soft pink with satin binding, little pockets, ribbon ties, and charming floral decoration.
EXTREMELY RARE original knitted sweater, bonnet, and booties ensemble, in soft ivory wool, embellished with tiny pink rosebuds.
Diaper, which may be a replacement.
The knitted ensemble is a particularly exciting discovery!
In researching past auction offerings spanning approximately 15 years, I was unable to locate even ONE example of this matching sweater set in the smaller 14-inch Kitten size! I did find two examples associated with the larger 20-inch Kitten.
A wonderful opportunity for the dedicated Madame Alexander collector!
The sweater has had a few small separations in the wool at the back, which have been carefully stitched together. This is mentioned for accuracy and does not detract from the charming appearance of this exceedingly scarce ensemble.
CONDITION
Kitten herself is beautifully preserved!
Her original blonde pixie-cut hair is exceptionally neat and fresh, with a lovely warm blonde coloring rather than the platinum-white shade more frequently encountered.
Her clear BLUE sleep eyes open and close perfectly, and her delicate facial coloring is wonderfully fresh.
Her softly stuffed cloth body is immaculately clean and free of stains, with only a very small mark on the side of one foot.
She retains her original "Kitten" by Madame Alexander cloth identification label.
The nape of her neck is appropriately marked:

Her original cryer remains in good working order.
All of her lovely wardrobe is original, with the possible exception of her diaper.
