GORGEOUS  LITTLE GIRL... with original human hair wig in factory set~

1930s Effanbee 30" Composition Talking Mae Starr phonograph doll -- WORKS PERFECTLY!

ALL ORIGINAL and comes with a PERFECT player -- this is ABSOLUTELY the "BEST OF THE BEST" Mae Starr Edison phonograph doll I have ever seen or had. She is ALL ORIGINAL from her head to her toes exactly as issued from the Effanbee factory so many decades ago. Her phonograph is the cleanest, smoothest working, and with an absolute minimum of background noise to the player; this makes the lyrics she is reciting LOUD and crystal clear.

I have had several of these 'talking' composition dolls from the 1930s, and I just love them. They came with Edison wax cylinder 'records' that were inserted into a simple mechanical record playing device in the doll's mid-section; a crank on the side of the doll is then wound and plays the record. FIVE records were initially made to go with these dolls -- : "Little Boy Blue", "London Bridge", "Old Mother Hubbard", "Now I Lay Me", and "One, Two Buckle My Shoe". The doll recites each rhyme in the most darling voice.

NOTE: DOLL comes with two cylinders -- as my inventory of cylinders changes, let me know your preference at checkout and I will accommodate your choice where possible.

This little girl is ALL ORIGINAL. Her original Effanbee unTagged Pink Dotted Swiss  ORGANDY DRESS has a matching underslip in excellent condition... crisp and unfaded over time. Her dress has wear to the lace at the hem and neckline.

She wears her original barrettes to 'tame' her oppulent human hair curls.  I don't often use the word 'stunning' but I believe it applies here...

Mae Starr has NO CRAZING and beautiful, well-defined facial features -- rosy cheeks, pretty red mouth with teeth, multi-stroke brows, and painted lashes. Her eyes open and close nicely, though they were 'blown' and I have added pupils to enhance them now. She has a full complement of her upper hair lashes.

Her composition limbs have beautiful composititon and paint -- smooth, even-toned and vibrant. There is only minor paint loss to her fingers and inside one arm a tiny speck of missing paint... really amazing. NOTE: I will touch up the fingers to match if the buyer requests.

She is MARKED:  'Mae Starr' and she is approximately 30" tall.

A BIG BEAUTIFUL GIRL representing a very special time in doll history with the advent of Edison's phonograph.

These special dolls, breathtaking as they are in looks as well as concept, lose their appeal when the phonograph no longer functions... however, my husband repairs these and cleans them 'down to the screws' to function fully... I am so blessed! THIS little Mae Starr has a PERFECT PLAYER and I have provided 2 videos for your enjoyment here.
