Darling and popular 18” TOP KNOT Baby Dear doll, first issued in 1960, designed by Eloise Wilkins.
 
Gorgeous healthy glow to her lovely face with light blonde hair, a clean body with all new stuffing and now has a WORKING squeaker. She has a sweet baby smell. If you have ever tried to photograph and ‘capture’ the true color of a Baby Dear’s hair, you know it depends on the lighting and angle; this baby has pretty light blonde hair… not so much the reddish cast some of my pictures show.
 
This happy baby is in excellent condition — fat and sassy, she sits up comfortably and poses ‘oh so many ways’. But she did come to me with one arm ‘creatively’ reattached by former owner. The vinyl next to the repair is slightly darker. This was undisclosed to me at the time, but she is such a beauty I thought it would be fun to see her shine once again… and she does indeed.
 
I have made her a new white flannel diaper in the same pattern as her original. She has a brand new side-snap white undershirt. Newly made creamy white crochet booties keep her feet warm.
 
She has three vintage outfits for her homecoming — a white nylon plisse dress with embroidered flowers, slip, and gorgeous coordinating bonnet; yellow print cotton kimono jacket with darling knit bonnet that has flowers; pink with hearts overalls worn over a whimsical print undershirt that is just her size. All outfits in excellent, clean and pressed condition.
 
I made ‘over’ this little sweetie pie because she is absolutely delightful and she “doesn’t know’ her arm is not the most attractive in the nursery. I believe she is now the ‘best that she can be’ and is ready to hold, and hug and LOVE after several rough years.
 
I had no intentions of parting with any of my rather large collection of these sweet dollies, but find a Baker’s Dozen might be a little much. If you collect them, you know they are much like potato chips, and cannot be resisted or denied. Dress them often, as they look charming and enjoy being fussed over.
