1940s Mold 3 Effanbee 15" Dy-Dee Jane with Carcacul Curls in her retail 'shoe box' display
 
Absolutely stunning with gorgeous red caracul wig Dy-Dee Jane baby doll.
 
This lovely 15" Dy-Dee is the third mold of the evolution of the Dy-Dee baby doll... a very big part of Effanbee's "Dolls that Steal your Heart" marketing campaign. The mold 3 itself went through at least three versions... this being the EARLY issue -- baby still has the very large, metal eyes -- these in a VIVID shade of GREEN -- with brighter whites than the later issue where the eyes were made smaller and of plastic where there is a tendency for them to turn yellow or greenish instead of remaining white.
 
Baby's HAIR is something to see -- beautiful THICK and luscious 'naturally curly' hair is a pretty shade of auburn... perfect match to her green eyes... is she of Irish descent perhaps? Lucky baby is all I can say...
 
Dy-Dee Jane comes with all you see pictured: her ORIGINAL Effanbee factory white organdy dress with matching bonnet and slip; white birds eye weave cotton diaper; undershirt (vest), pink roses flannel pajamas, rayon socks, and oilcloth shoes... ALL ORIGINAL FACTORY layette.
 
She comes in her box that has wear, and the top has separated from the bottom; but still makes a nice display. It includes her faux 'silver' feeding spoon, brochure, pacifier, and bubble pipe (rubber tip hardened). Her glass Dy-Dee embossed nursing bottle retains its rubber tip that has hardened and has been reinforced at the tip to prevent damage.
 
I have added a mold 3 Effanbee Dy-Dee pink taffeta coat to enhance her wardrobe -- in mint condition.
 
BABY herself is in wonderful MINT condition... and a 'show-stopper' when it comes to looks -- her face just glows. Her painted facial features are well-defined and completely intact. Her soft inset rubber ears are perfect. Her pretty curly hair is thick with no thinning or bald spots (!!). She has a super nice MINT rubber body with NO CRAZING at all. Her body is soft and lovely with light overall skintone.. perfect fingers and toes and joints move as they should and pose nicely and easily.
 
She has big green eyes with a full complement of thick and even brush lashes open and close freely
 
All clothing in MINT, like NEW condition but for the ties on the bonnet I have replaced, and her pj's have light display/plawear.
