Gorgeous original matte composition, enormous blue sleeping eyes, delicate multi-stroke eyebrows, RARE CELLULOID FINGERNAILS, beautifully preserved original patriotic wardrobe, illustrated presentation box, and a period United States Defense Savings Bonds booklet containing an actual 25-cent Defense Savings Stamp!

During the World War II years, Effanbee embraced America's patriotic spirit with American flags, red, white, and blue costumes, and military-inspired clothing for many of its beloved dolls.
And here is one of those wonderful survivors!
BABY BRIGHT EYES HERSELF
Baby is in EXCEPTIONAL ORIGINAL CONDITION, retaining her gorgeous, soft MATTE composition finish — a particularly desirable feature in a doll more than 80 years old.
Her sweet face has beautiful original coloring, rosy cheeks, adorable little lips, and nearly perfect molded brunette hair with its charming forehead curls. Her BIG BLUE eyes are crystal clear and open and close perfectly for awake and sleeping.
And notice those lovely, delicate MULTI-STROKE EYEBROWS!
Effanbee's artists painted Baby Bright Eyes' eyebrows in fine, individual wisps, giving them a wonderfully natural appearance resembling the eyebrows of a real baby. These delicate painted strokes are particularly vulnerable to wear over the decades, making their beautiful preservation on this little girl especially pleasing.
Her composition head, arms, and legs retain their lovely original finish, with only a scant few exceedingly fine craze lines that are scarcely perceptible in person. Close-up photography tends to exaggerate these tiny lines.
AND ANOTHER WONDERFUL RARITY!
Notice her little pink CELLULOID FINGERNAILS, applied at the factory! Effanbee used these unusual fingernails sparingly on certain dolls during the 1940s, and they are VERY RARE to find today. What a delightful detail!
Baby's softly stuffed cloth torso gives her that wonderfully cuddly quality so characteristic of these lovely Effanbee babies. No doubt she would have made a treasured companion for some lucky little girl receiving her on Christmas morning or for a special birthday.
HER BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL PATRIOTIC WARDROBE
Baby wears her delightful original red, white, and blue patriotic ensemble, with lovely sheer embroidered fabric, delicate lace trimming, and charming patriotic ribbon accents. Her matching wide-brimmed bonnet is equally beautiful.
Her original clothing, including her dress and coordinating pinafore, bonnet, undergarments, socks, and little shoes, is shown in our photographs.
The original EFFANBEE DURABLE DOLLS — MADE IN U.S.A. garment label remains intact.
Her clothing is IMMACULATELY CLEAN AND FRESH, retaining its wonderfully crisp, apparently unplayed-with condition. A lovely vintage white slip has been added beneath her dress, allowing Baby to be displayed beautifully with or without her patriotic pinafore.
ORIGINAL WORLD WAR II PRESENTATION AND DEFENSE SAVINGS BOOKLET
Now for something particularly special!
Baby Bright Eyes comes with her original illustrated presentation box and a period UNITED STATES DEFENSE SAVINGS BONDS booklet. And the booklet contains an actual 25-CENT DEFENSE SAVINGS STAMP! Upon careful examination, we discovered two tiny staple holes in the back cover of the booklet that correspond exactly with two tiny staple holes in the original presentation box — fascinating physical evidence of the booklet's original placement.
The box also retains two small elastic holders, apparently intended to accommodate an American flagpole. An appropriately aged 48-STAR AMERICAN FLAG has been added to complete her patriotic presentation.
You will notice two American flags in our introductory photograph. The brighter flag was initially used during photography but has 50 stars, dating it to a later period.
We subsequently located the more historically appropriate 48-star flag, which is the flag INCLUDED WITH BABY BRIGHT EYES.
The newer 50-star flag is not included UNLESS you desire it as well.
The 48-star American flag was our nation's official flag throughout World War II, making it especially fitting for this beautiful wartime presentation.
CONDITION
BABY: Exceptionally beautiful original composition, retaining its lovely soft matte finish, gorgeous facial coloring, nearly perfect molded hair, delicate multi-stroke eyebrows, and rare celluloid fingernails.
Her big blue sleep eyes open and close perfectly.
Only a few exceedingly fine craze lines are present, scarcely noticeable in person.
Her original pink cloth torso has age-related staining, as shown in our undressed photographs. A removable protective fabric covering has been added beneath her clothing so that the staining does not show through her beautiful wardrobe.
WARDROBE: Her original tagged Effanbee clothing is exceptionally fresh, crisp, and beautifully preserved, retaining its apparently unplayed-with appearance. The vintage white slip has been added.
ORIGINAL PRESENTATION BOX: The charming illustrated cardboard box shows age-related wear, including edge and corner wear, creasing, discoloration, and damage to the lower cardboard corners. Some previously separated cardboard sections have been carefully secured to preserve the box and improve its presentation.
The original illustrations remain, providing a wonderful historical setting for Baby Bright Eyes and her wartime accessories.
