Gorgeous high-color SWEETIE PIE baby doll looks just as she did when originally purchased in the early 1940s... right off the toy store shelf.
 
Her face and limbs are vibrant with high color and retain the original 'powdery' matte finish to the paint, found only on UNPLAYED  witht dolls.
 
Clearly, she has never been allowed the privilege to be played with and loved, having spent the last 80 or so years hidden away in her retail box.
 
She is considered MINT in BOX condition with no flaws but for a few stray lines on each arm. Her clothing had never been removed from her until her photo session today. Dress and     bonnet are PRISTINE though the dress has two pinholes in the bodice. Underneath is a crisp cotton slip, and matching pantaloons that tie firmly in place between her body and compo legs. She wears her mint oilcloth tie shoes, and silk socks complete her beautiful outift.
 
Sweetie Pie has crystal clear and bright BLUE FLIRTY EYES that open and close for awake and asleep, and move side-to-side left or right. She has full, thick and even brush lashes and when her eyes close they do not recede or misalign at all... PERFECT!
 
Sweetie Pie has a MINT and unblemished face with vibrant coloring. Her cheeks have a healthy glow and her rosebud lips are sweet. Her soft, thick and full lambs wool 'caracul' wig is a lovely shade of auburn.
 
Sweetie comes in her original retail box and even retains the original tissue paper inside. The box is sturdy with some fading; the box top has clear graphics but the sides of the box top have pieces missing (they are inside the box if you are clever enough to repair).
 
Sweetie Pie was one of Effanbee's MOST SUCCESSFUL and desirable dolls in the 1940s. Every young girl wanted to have a Sweetie Pie of her own to LOVE and cuddle.
 
Her adorable and impish expression along with her chubby baby-like features are endearing.
