RARE --1930s Effanbee SUGAR BABY 20" Composition Doll in Effanbee factory outfit
 
This is a wonderful 20" Effanbee SUGAR Baby composition and cloth doll from the 1930's. She comes with NO CRAZING dressed in her socks and shoes, and beautiful white cotton lawn dress, slip and bonnet. I have added a gorgeous Molly'es pink silk taffeta coat and bonnet for added display value.

This FABULOUS doll is in excellent original factory condition and no crazing. Two finger-tips had paint wear and have been color-matched and sealed to ensure stability.. very hard to see as the work is well done. Lush thick and full caracul wig is hard to find on the Sugar Baby dolls.
 
SUGAR BABY wears her beautiful white lawn dress featuring pink embroidered floral motif across the front --  fresh, clean and unfaded, it is in lightly played with condition; fresh elastic has restored the puff sleeve openings to firm and springy condition. Underneath is a newly-made crisp cotton slip and her ORIGINAL pink cotton pantaloons. Missing her original bonnet, I have added a gorgeous Effanbee bonnet with baby-sweet floral embroidery across the ruffle, and fresh pink silk ribbons.
 
I have added the pink silk taffeta coat and bonnet, but PLEASE DO NOTE that lovely as it looks and displays it is very, very fragile in that the silk is some areas acts like thin tissue and separates easily. For this reason I am including it with the sale of the doll, but it is considered of 'no value' due to the condition... it's just that she looks SO LOVELY wearing it, and if you are just planning to display this sweet girl, she will no doubt be a nice PRIZE for your nursery shelf~
 
Her outfit is complete with original socks and white oilcloth shoes.
 
Sugar Baby is a TOUSLE TOT (tousle head -- caracul lambskin wig) with composition head and limbs  The oilcloth body is clean and still very nice after all these decades past.
 
Her face is VIBRANT with beautiful BLUE EYES that sparkle with good cheer and, of course, LOVE as she gazes up at you, and raises her arms to be picked up and hugged. She retains her original multi-stroke brows and painted lashes. Her glassene eyes are clear and lovely; she has a full complement of thick, brush lashes on the right side, and somewhat sparse on the other; her eyes open and close perfectly.
 
INCLUDED is her original metal heart Effanbee wrist bracelet.
