1927 American Character Petite 19" Happy Tot Composition Doll
Beautiful and near mint baby girl was born in the 1920s; she competed with similar dolls from the same 1920s era -- Effanbee Bubbles, Horsman Dimples, and the like.
Happy Tot is dressed in her original dress, slip, belly band, and bonnet; lovely, soft, pur white cotton lawn fabric, with French Val lace trim, and pink silk ribbons. The ribbons on the bonnet have been replaced; the pink silk ribbon on the front of her dress is original. All she needs is a carriage to sit in comfortably while you take her for a ride around the park to show her off.
Happy Tot is in near mint condition, that is to say if you don't count the age patina to the fabric of her body. She has curved, firmly stuffed jointed legs and feet, which I have thoughtfully covered in same-vintage booties to complete her emsemble.
Her composition is in outstanding condition with lovely ORIGINAL high-color facial features, with NO RESTORATIONS of any kind, and NO CRAZING. She has vivid blush on the back of her elblows, where one has some small amount of paint loss, but it is just a rub and no damage to the compo at all. Her sweet blondie molded hair has only a modicum of wear to show her near 100 years of age.
Truly remarkable to find this antique and collectible doll in such remarkable condition. GREAT addition to your American Character or composition doll collection.
