There are not enough pictures here to truly satisfy your LOVE for this RARE doll -- she certainly has the 'IT' factor!
14" E.I. Horsman & Co. Baby Buttercup from the early 1930's, and produced for only ONE year. She is highlighted in Ursula Mertz's book of "Collectors Encyclopedia of American Composition Dolls".
Baby Buttercup has BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL coloring, with sweet high color blushed cheeks. She wears a mint condition outfit made decades ago just for her, and a Molly'es silk moire coat and bonnet.
Buttercup is in near MINT condition. Little to NO CRAZING, with just a light touchup to her finger tips.
SHE is a medium-size of the Buttercup dolls produced and is about 14" tall (sitting 11" with her cute drawn up "baby" legs). She has a composition flange head, full arms and bent baby legs on a cloth body with a non-working crier inside... she is immaculately clean without any odors. She is jointed at the shoulders and hips. ALL ORIGINAL doll, Buttercup has PERFECT molded painted blonde hair, and a closed open mouth. Her body has original paint -- with smooth, even toned composition.
Buttercup is appropriately marked EIH Co for E.I. Horsman dolls. Her ORIGINAL eyes are perfect, opening and closing as they should. All painted features are clearly defined and intact with just 'fever' blush to compliment her creamy 'porcelain-like' complexion.
The historical value and short production run lend this little cutie all the desirable characteristics of a highly collectible doll. Truly a RARE find for any collector of Horsman or composition dolls.
