Vintage 1930s extremely rare Effanbee 13" Mold 1 caracul baby in a GORGEOUS shade of strawberry blonde curls and bright blue eyes. Rare FAO Schwarz set with the bright yellow graphics.

This stunning doll baby is the highly sought after and intriguing Mold 1 Dy-Dee with a luscious thick and full strawberry blonde caracul wig. She comes with a full layette as photographed. All clothing in mint condition, as found.
Baby herself is AMAZING! You will not find a prettier baby, and quite probably never another with this gorgeous strawberry blond wig. Her face has beautiful and vibrant original color with all painted features well-defined. She has lovely blue tin-litho eyes (early dolls had these) with a full complement of brush lashes that are thick and even; the eyes open and close as they should and without receding when baby is laid down on her back for a nap.
This adorable tiny baby came years ago (along with two others) and years after Peggy and I had an inital conversaion about the existence and autheticity of this particular issue Dy-Dee in the Effanbee line. Barbara Hilliker's quintessential 'bible' regarding all things Dy-Dee, represents Peggy's (and my own) thoughts regarding this issue doll. Peggy and I were delighted to collaborate and definitively confirm it through observation and sharing what we had in our own exhaustive collections. I was able to share with her a mold 1 20" Dy-Dee I had in my collection at the time (sold years ago), and she had the one shown in the Dy-Dee book in the 13" size.
This RARE WIGGED mold 1 Dy-Dee Kin has no paint under the wig, validating it came from the factory as you see her here 80+ years later.
Her only restoration is a replaced rubber body. I have never, ever seen a soft, usable body on a Dy-Dee Kin doll. I know some might prefer to have had her in her original state, but the beautiful clothing Dy-Dee Kin has would only be displayed and not worn... would be a shame I feel; now you can dress your baby and play with her without worry of limbs falling off or breaking. The replacement body is soft and supple with little crazing and the joints are firm and move freely to pose baby and really bring out her personality... very nice!
The FAO Schwarz sets were filled with layette clothing that was not sold in the main Effanbee Dy-Dee product line... everything is special to the set except the blanket:

The FAO Schwarz display box has some wear but still displays beautifully.
NOTE the RARE and special genuine Effanbee pillow with silk and lace trim that lines the bottom of the box... very different than the pink organdy padding that is commonly seen. The pad is TAGGED (see photo) so you can be certain of its authenticity.
