13" Brunette Effanbee Dy-Dee Kin 1937 Mold 1 with BROWN Eyes
 
This is one of the two of my 'prized' Mold 1 Dy-Dee Kin babies. This little treasure has the most lovely and soft brown glassene eyes, with a lion's share of its brush lashes, beautiful coloring, and clearly defined facial features... Why is this important?
 
The 13" Dy-Dee Kin was produced by Effanbee in 1937 for only ONE year. This makes them harder to find in any condition at all. And, when you do find one, it is truly rare to find one with an intact rubber body, eyes that have full lashes and have not rusted or yellowed, or anything else in a laundry list of things that plague the survival of this particular size Dy-Dee. Of course, the usual chips and bumps and scrapes and rubs are common with these little ones, as with the rest of the available size Dy-Dee babies. Then there is the crucial issue at hand... in all the years I have collected Dy-Dee, and thousands have passed through my portal, I have never seen a fully intact rubber body for the 13" Dy-Dee Kin that had not hardened and whose limbs were fragile and more often than not detached... or threatening to do so.
 
Here, my beautiful brown-eyed beauty has a gorgeous creamy complexion and lovely original eyes. Her eyes do open and close, most of the way; and there is a tiny touchup at the inner corner of one side of her mouth in the 'crevice'. She has a kind and intelligent countenance, does she not?
 
As with all the rubber bodies, she has a replaced rubber one, and in good condition, enabling you to play with Dy-Dee Kin once again and dress her in her GENEROUS ORIGINAL WARDROBE. Stunning!
 
She comes with all you see here. Her THREE DRESSES are Effanbee Dy-Dee KIN original factory issue. The classic pink dotted Swiss dress, original pink slip, and bonnet set are in MINT condition -- fresh and crisp with only wear to the ties to tell it age -- and documented in Barbara Hilliker's popular and definitive book about Dy-Dee. The pure white lawn dress with the butterfly sleeves is positively stunning on Dy-Dee Kin and comes with a replaced slip. Then there is the red polka dotted dress with the flounce collar that I have had only two of in the last 25 years... rare and quite lovely, it is an FAO Schwarz issue to 'match' the same red polka dot theme those trunks have inside them; comes with a replaced slip. LAST, is the classic pink crepe de chine long coat and matching cap, with its long crisp, white organdy gown underneath, with matching slip.
 
There are other extra ORIGINAL outfits: Signature Dy-Dee drop seat pajamas; white flannel robe with lovely embroidered flowers down the front; pink 'eiderdown' robe with matching booties; blue 'eiderdown' snowsuit; cream and baby blue original Effanbee Dy-Dee doll crocheted sweater, cap and booties; and a red-and-white stripe seersucker romper w/belt. All these are in excellent to mint condition.
 
There are plenty of original accessories as pictured and popularly known amongst collectors... including diapers, pinning blanket, belly band, undershirts, embroidered crocheted bib, and booties.
 
The trunk itself is nearly perfect ... immaculately clean, intact, and with some minor staining on the outside lid (never seen when displayed, of course), and very small bit of paper loss at one corner edge. The pink organdy pad is crisp and unfaded, with no stains.
