Darling and popular 18” Baby Dear doll, first issued in 1960, designed by Eloise Wilkins.
Gorgeous healthy glow to her lovely face with light blonde hair, a clean body with all new kapok stuffing. She has a sweet baby smell. If you have ever tried to photograph and ‘capture’ the true color of a Baby Dear’s hair, you know it depends on the lighting and angle; this baby has pretty light blonde hair… not so much the reddish cast some of my pictures show. This happy baby is in excellent condition — fat and sassy, she sits up comfortably and poses ‘oh so many ways’. She is such a beauty I thought it would be fun to see her shine once again… and what better way than to present her the option of a TWIN (available separately in my shop -- ask about a DISCOUNT if you purchase both :-)
This listing is for ONE of the twins in my shop -- purchase is for this darling baby dressed in BLUE pajamas. Included layette:
- Blue flannel two-piece pajamas with puff short sleeves, elasticized waist and bottom of the legs -- features a whimsical print of the popular rhyme, "RICH MAN, POOR MAN, BEGGAR MAN, CHIEF..." Closes at the front neckline with the rare dot mini snaps that were used by Vogue on many of their garments in the early 1960s. Although they 'speak' of Vogue, they are not tagged and I know little else other than I received them with the identical pair of pink ones for purchase on the little baby's twin.
- Beautiful brand new, baby pink cotton blend day gown with matching bonnet -- darling embroidered rosebuds are sprinkled across an organdy insert at the hemline; and beautiful embroidered smocking at the bodice. Closes at the back with three little buttons.
Baby Dear comes to you immaculately clean and fresh with a new pink flannel diaper in the same pattern as her original. She has a brand new pull-over style undershirt in a whimsical BUNNY RABBIT pattern. Newly made baby pink crochet booties keep her feet warm.
All outfits in excellent, clean and pressed MINT condition ready for play and display... although she prefers to be cuddled.
This little sweetie pie is absolutely delightful and she “doesn’t know’ a few of her hair plugs are thin at the back of her head, that barely show at all... my guess is she likes to sleep on her back and this was the result after over 60 years!
"I had no intentions of parting with any of my rather large collection of these sweet dollies, but find a Baker’s Dozen might be a little much. If you collect them, you know they are much like potato chips, and cannot be resisted or denied. Dress them often, as they look charming and enjoy being fussed over."
